Should governors try to get things back to how they were, or can they use this ‘world pause’ after the Pandemic to help move our schools towards where they need to be? In his second article Dave Harris, of Independent Thinking, argues that governors need to join forces with headteachers and engage in radical change.

Where we are

Schools were initially formed to help provide the workforce with a level of skills appropriate for the world into which young people were entering. Does anyone really believe that this world has not changed far more dramatically than our schools have? And now the global pandemic has pressed pause on all the world systems, isn’t this a great time to consider forging new paths?
