New Teachers – A Quantitative Debrief

This report for the National College for School Leadership (NCSL) shows that a new generation of teachers are enthusiastic about a long career in schools. The research amongst 150 teachers in the first three years of their careers reveals that 85 per cent probably or definitely want to be working in a school in 20 years, with only two per cent definitely not. Their enthusiasm contrasts with a 2003 survey showing that a third of serving teachers then expected to leave the profession within five years. Folder: Leadership Briefings Issue 3.07 (31)
