Children’s And Adults’ Friendships Across Social Class And Ethnic Difference

This research by UCL Institute of Education (IOE) and the University of Surrey shows that primary schools generate friendships and supportive social relationships for both children and their parents or carers. The study found children commonly making friendships with others from different ethnic groups, and similar (but fewer) examples with adult friendships. However, social class appeared to act as a more divisive factor than ethnicity for adults and children. Leadership Briefing 9.12(108)
