The heart of the subject – rich, discursive classroom discussion of texts and extended writing - was greatly compromised when teaching went online.

But teachers, and English teachers in particular, are a creative group who employ a range of techniques - and technologies - to break down those virtual barriers.

And these approaches are now becoming part of teaching and learning life as schools return to something approaching normality, albeit during a time still compromised by covid’s long tail effect.
