Influences On Students’ Development At Age 16

This DfE research looks at what influences attainment and development in 16-year-old students. The research explores how different stages of education, student characteristics, family background, and home and out of school learning, are related to students’ GCSE attainment and progress, their social behaviour, dispositions, views of school, and future destinations at age 16. The research also estimates some of the economic returns from society’s investment in early education. Leadership Briefing Issue 9.02(98)
