This Department for Education report provides an overview of the key messages from fifteen studies in a research programme jointly funded by the Department for Education and the Department of Health. It aims to identify how children might be better safeguarded in three key areas: identification and initial response to abuse and neglect; effective interventions after abuse or its likelihood have been identified; and effective inter-agency and inter-disciplinary working.
