Outdoor Science

This new outdoor science report by the Field Studies Council and launched at the House of Commons warns that there is a continuing decline in fieldwork despite its known benefits. The report recognises the need for teachers to be more confident in undertaking learning outside the classroom and urges the Government to develop a programme of teacher training to address this. The six recommendations published in this report are the product of the discussions which involved over 100 participants. As such, they provide a strong foundation for a shared and coherent approach towards increased uptake and improved quality of teaching and learning through fieldwork in science education.
