This report by the Education Policy Institute assesses the state of children’s mental health services in England. The research examines access to specialist services, waiting times for treatment, and provision for those children that are not able to receive treatment.

Over recent years there has been increasing understanding of the importance of young people’s mental health, as well as rising concern about the apparently increasing demand for such services and difficulties for some young people in accessing support. But promises about improved data and accountability have not, so far, been matched by the delivery of consistent and transparent data reporting.
