Forced Marriage: Prevalence and Service Response

These guidelines have been issued urging teachers to be vigil for tell-tale signs of pupils being forced into arranged marriages. The Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF), with the support of the Forced Marriage Unit (FMU), commissioned the National Centre for Social Research (NatCen) to carry out research on the issue of forced marriage (FM) in England. The report shows that although there are examples of good practice, local agencies need to get better at working together to identify and prevent forced marriage.
