The robots are taking over the world! Social media is threatening our children’s lives! Smartphones have ruined students’ attention spans! Why is it that there is so much hyperbole about the role of technology in society? Certainly the rapid pace of technological advances in recent decades is dizzying and often confounding, but the theme of imminent disaster and apocalyptic warnings against technology adoption are not new. While blind or mindless adoption of technologies can certainly be detrimental, there is no doubt that technology can and does enhance our lives and is making the world a better place for so many people.
