Text Messaging and Literacy Development

New research from Coventry University shows that use of 'textisms' by primary school children can benefit literacy development. The Becta funded study shows that amongst children who are new to using mobile phones, use of text abbreviations was related to the development of literacy skills. Here, lead researcher of the study, Prof. Clare Wood, discusses her research.
