Autism And Educational Assessment: UK Policy And Practice

Over the past two decades UK government legislation has led to an increased focus on inclusive education. This research, funded by NFER, investigated UK assessment policy and practice for mainstream-educated pupils who are diagnosed with an Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The report considers the role of educational assessment in relation to inclusive education in mainstream settings, with a specific focus on the assessment of pupils with ASD. Young People And The Digital Divide

This report from Catch 22 presents the findings of research carried out young people’s experiences of using the internet. The report shows that 1 in 5 young people that the charity works with have no access to the internet. The report also sets out the significant disadvantages that exist for those young people who are unable to get online. In order to ensure that all young people benefit from the internet, the report makes a series of recommendations to help bridge the 'digital divide' between those who can access the internet and those who cannot. International Perspective On Integrated Children’s Services

This research report, published by the CfBT Education Trust, covers a review of the international literature on, and policies relating to, the integration of children’s services. The report identifies British, American and Norwegian evidence of the beneficial consequences of an integrated approach to Early Years provision. It concludes that the task of ensuring a joined-up approach to children's services remains work in progress, and questions whether now, as children's services move to a more 'mature' phase', a more locally-driven, but equally focused approach would be more likely to yield increased results for children and families. Sustainable ICT for UK Schools

This new publication by Gary Clawson, chief executive of the North West Learning Grid, reports that the average secondary school can save £35,020 a year, and a primary school £6,300 by implementing a policy of open source software and content. in addition, local authorities could cut their ICT costs by between 25 and 35 per cent.
