Wireless wastage: State of play in UK schools
Many schools are embracing next generation technologies that expand learning options, such as 1:1 laptop-to-student deployments, bring your own device (BYOD) initiatives, and cloud-based educational applications that support learning in the classroom. Pupils are using mobile devices to download assignments, carry out research and ask questions of teachers, fellow pupils and even subject experts from outside school. But without adequate Wi-Fi, the use of these devices is limited.
Music to young ears – Engaging deaf children with music
This research report, by Music4U, focuses on music making with deaf children under five. Funded by Youth Music’s Musical Inclusion programme, the research examined current levels of provision for young deaf children across the Music4U region and identified examples of national and regional best practice. The project also sought a better understanding of the benefits of musical engagement for deaf children and some of the new and emerging trends in provision, especially those that are technology-based and that are being developed in the academic sphere.
