interested in creative education and

an inquiry curriculum.

18 June 2010 – The Barford suite, Barnham Broom Hotel, Norwich

Key Speakers

Chris Watkins of the Institute of Education

Luke Abbott, director of mantleoftheexpert.com

The new primary curriculum, which will be implemented in September 2011, means schools and local authorities across the country must plan for a new emphasis on cross-curricular learning. School leaders must be mindful of the shortcomings of topic planning, and careful not to repeat mistakes of the past.

The School of Creativity Enquiry Day Conference is an opportunity for school leaders to hear new ideas and discuss strategies in workshops.

Speakers Chris Watkins, from the London Institute of Education, and Luke Abbott, director of mantleofthexpert.com, will share their thoughts on exploring the new curriculum through the use of inquiry. Chris and Luke will continue the conversation throughout the day by
leading special interest groups.

Delegates will also get to discuss inquiry learning with children and staff from Surlingham Community Primary School. Surlingham School’s inquiry-focused curriculum
was recently rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted.

Surlingham Community Primary School is one of 56 schools in England with Creative Partnerships ‘School of Creativity’ status. The Schools of Creativity work with the flagship creative learning programme, Creative Partnerships to further develop teaching and learning practices, form innovative partnerships with other schools and help to shape future education policy and practice.
